The Gulfstream G550 is a large cabin, ultra long range business jet manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia. Certified in 2003 as the GV-SP, it is an improved development of the Gulfstream V with enhanced engines, increased range, and an upgraded flight deck. Over 550 aircraft were delivered before production concluded, making it one of the most commercially successful ultra long range jets.
Powered by two Rolls Royce BR710C4-11 engines, each producing 15,385 pounds of thrust, the G550 has a range of 6,750 nautical miles at Mach 0.80. The cabin measures 43 feet 11 inches long, 7 feet 4 inches wide, and 6 feet 2 inches tall, typically seating 14 to 18 passengers in up to four living areas. Its range enables nonstop flights from London to Tokyo, New York to Dubai, or Los Angeles to Moscow.
Systems and Capabilities
The G550 features the PlaneView flight deck with Honeywell Primus Epic avionics, cursor control devices, and a standard head up display with enhanced vision system. These systems significantly improve situational awareness during low visibility approaches. The aircraft competes directly with the Bombardier Global 6000 and Dassault Falcon 7X, offering superior range with a slightly narrower but longer cabin than the Global.
