The Bombardier Global Express is an ultra long range, large cabin business jet that entered service in 1999. Manufactured in Toronto, Canada, it was designed from the outset for nonstop intercontinental travel and established a new category in business aviation. The type has evolved through the Global Express XRS (2005), Global 6000 (2012), and Global 6500 (2019) variants.
The original Global Express is powered by two Rolls Royce BR710A1-10 engines, each producing 14,750 pounds of thrust, delivering a range of 6,150 nautical miles. The cabin measures 48 feet 5 inches long, 8 feet 2 inches wide, and 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a flat floor throughout. It typically accommodates 13 to 19 passengers in three cabin zones with a full galley and dedicated crew rest area.
Operational Capabilities
The Global Express was the first purpose built ultra long range business jet capable of connecting virtually any two cities on earth with at most one stop. It routinely operates routes such as New York to Tokyo, London to Los Angeles, and Dubai to Washington nonstop. The aircraft is certified for steep approaches into challenging airports and has demonstrated reliable service in extreme conditions from the Middle East to northern Canada. The Bombardier Vision flight deck on later variants provides four 15 inch LCD displays with synthetic vision.
